I need to upgrade my RAM adding 8GB memory. Wanteed to know if the 8GB DDR4 will fit to my laptop. My laptop model is HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-bp1xx, product number 1ZA23AV.

Manual reveals that my laptop has  2 SODIMM memory module slots, non-customer-accessible DDR-2133 dual channel support (DDR4-2400 dowgrade to DDR4-2133). Supports up to 16-GB of system memory. Supports the following conƭgurations:
● 16384-MB (8192-MB × 2)
● 12288-MB (8192-MB + 4096-MB)
● 8192-MB (8192-MB × 1 or 4096-MB × 2)
● 4096-MB (4096-MB × 1)

I have contacted hp support and they said that currently my laptop has  8GB DDR4-2666 Mic E die D/C 1808 RAM and  I can add 1 8GB into the second slot with the above configuration. Is there any of your 8GB RAM products you can suggest me? I saw some may be compatible, just wanted to have best advise. Looking forward to hearing back.

NEED HELP: CT8G4DFS8266 SPD (jedec) Speed vs XMP

$

I've bought a Dell 5676 Inspiron Gaming Desktop with an AMD 2700x CPU and promontory x370 motherboard recently.

I'm looking to upgrade the ram and it states supported speed is 2400, however, the motherboard supports speeds of 2666 and I've heard people confirm reaching these speeds for this PC on forums. This appears to only be the case for spd set speeds of 2666 as XMP apparently can't be enabled using dell BIOS.

The ram in question is a Crucial 8GB (1x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz - Model Number: CT8G4DFS8266

My questions were: - Does this ram have a speed of 2666 SPD? Or is this XMP advertised speed. - If it is XMP advertised speed, what is the SPD speed?

Thank you in advance.

RAM upgrade of Vostro 15 3559

Hello everyone,,,

I am currently looking into upgrading my laptops RAM and I am unsure of whether to buy 8GB or 16GB. I also need some help with understanding the Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1). Does this mean that I can put in 2x8GB to make 16GB or does is support it with the original 4GB if I add in a 16GB? Or is it a case of taking out the original 4GM altogether and replacing it?

I am upgrading for better usage when gaming as my laptop cannot really handle it and I don't want to buy a new PC/laptop.

Hope this all makes sense!!!

Thank you,...

Hello everyone,,

So i just got home i ran the scan, found:

Crucial 8GB DDR3-1866 UDIMM CT5008696
DDR3 PC3-14900 • CL=13 • Unbuffered
• NON-ECC • DDR3-1866 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64

I also opened up my Tower took a peak at what i have currently installed (came with the PC) and this is what i found:

AD3U1600W8G11-B
DDR3 1600(11)8GX16 U-DIMM
10243155

Now im all messed up lol, First the one that the site has as compatible , the last numbers stick out at me "1024Meg x 64"

The one i currently have installed "8GX16" , admittedly i am not sure if this is an issue or not as im still learning all this.

Then i think back to my first post where i listed the Memory Specifications: DDR3 1066/1333/1600(OC) SDRAM (16GB MAX) 2 DDR3 DIMMS (240) 1.5 Support Dual Channel Mode.

So i took the above to mean 1066(low) 1333(high) 1600 (Over Clock), i was going with the 1333 since im not to familiar with OC, come to find out i already have a 1600 installed..

Just when i thought i had an understanding of this i feel lost again lol.

RAM upgrade for Lenovo G50-45 Help

$

Hello,

I was trying to upgrade my RAM from 4GB to 8GB. I have a Lenovo 50-45. Upon researching I found I should use a:

DDR3L-1800 SODIMM 1.35V CL11.

So I bought that from Crucial. When I went to install it I found the existing RAM in my laptop was:

Samsung 4 GB 1RX8 PC3L 12800S

Did I buy the right RAM? My computer is working ok since I put in the new 8GB bt since they are different (DDR3L vs 1RX8) I'm concerned.

Also, when I replaced the old RAM with the new one, upon starting my laptop up I got the notice "Adapter has limited support". I wonder if this is a voltage issue perhaps related to the new RAM?

Any help is appreciated. I was unable to utilize the tool Crucial offers to scan computer hence this forum question.

Thank you in advance.

What is the difference between CT16G4WFD8266 and CT16G4XFD8266? The CT16G4XFD8266 costs a bit more. The comparison on the crucial site does not show any differences. Where can I find the datasheets?

Hi, I wish to buy another 8 gigs of RAM, but I can't find one that has the same numbers after the period. Does this matter, and will they work even though they're different?

Fake Crucial RAM?

I picked up a refurbished Lenovo X230 Tablet recently and decided to grab another 4Gb stick of memory for it. Went to the local Fry's and bought a Crucial stick with model number CT51264BF160B on the box. You could see the SO-DIMM in the box, and it had a Crucial sticker on it. (Buying at Fry's is a mess-- the clerk came back with my order and thought I had bought a two-DIMM set of Patriot RAM, which is clearly not what I wanted, let alone what I was paying for)

When I pulled it out of the packaging, there was the Crucial sticker on one side, and another sticker for Pacific Sun Memory on the other. I was under the impression that Pacific Sun is their cheap-range RAM, but perhaps it's just an intermediary supplier that Fry's sources Crucial stuff from. Their website sucks and provides no convincing proof of that.

Loading up CPU-Z shows a SPD tab with no vendor info and a serial number of FFFFFFFF, which seems a little weird for name-brand RAM.

Anyone using that module know if this sounds sketchy?

What is the difference between CT2KIT51264BF160B and CT2KIT51264BF160BJ ? On the Crucial website I can see no difference. They're also the same price.

Not Sure If Buying Due To Fear Of Incompatibilities

So, I have used the Crucial Scanner and have found the right memory that is compatible to my system in general (HP Omen 15). However, I currently have a Samsung 8gb memory (Check Photo) and would want to add another 8gb RAM. I found a crucial perfect counterpart of this samsung in terms of specs matching and it seems to match as well to the ones suggested to me by Crucial's scanner. The thing is, I've read a lot of negative comments saying that the brand must also match, even the time it was manufactured must also match (that's why kits exist in the first place, as they said).

Is this true? Or the chances of incompatibilities due to brand ONLY is very unlikely? Everybody in my local area says it should work, but almost all I found online says it may not and it worries me. Lastly, I'm looking forward on having a dual channel or whatever you call that. Please help me be cleared about this stuff! I was so determined to get the stick, not until I read about so many comments online about incompatibilities.RAM.png

ASUS X407MA Black Screen after Memory DDR4 upgrade

$

Hi CRUCIAL,

1 week Ago I bought the following memory through your store on amazon.com:

Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT8G4SFD824A

This memory, as crucial analysis tool said, is compatible with my laptop. When I tried to do the upgrade, totally black screen shows. No beeps, no possibility to enter BIOS, nothing, totally black screen. I switch again to the old DDR4 $GB RAM and boot starts normally.

I read lot of forums, I have upgrade BIOS to the last version 301, and nothing. Black screen every time that I set the new curcial memory.

Thinking that maybe the new DDR4 was corrupt, I talked to amazon and they replaced it to a new one. Yesterday has arrived the replacement, but again the same problem. Screen totally black.

Using CPU-Z to know about my laptop SPECS says that originally 4GB RAM that cames with laptop is SINGLE RANK. The one that I have bought from crucial is DUAL RANK, as the crucial analysis says that DUAL RANK is compatible with my laptop anyway.

I need your help please.

Regards.

Santiago.

Does number of pins matter?

I want to add 4Gb of RAM to the existing 4Gb I have on my Acer 5749 laptop. The Crucial diagnostic tool recommends two compatible products:

                      CT5491719          CT51264BF160BJ

                      CT9176113           CT51264BF160B

Apart from a small price difference, the two products appear to have identical specs except that the BJ version has 204 pins, while for the B model this is given as N/A.

I don't know if this is important - which should I use?

Thanks

Asus X556 (F556U) Running Ubuntu - New Memory, Laptop Won't Boot

$

Hello,

I purchased an 8GB memory stick to supplement the existing memory on my Asus F556U laptop after running my laptop type through Crucial's matching system. I purchased the recommended stick (below) and installed it into the auxilary memory module on the laptop. When I went to turn the laptop on post-installation, I heard the fan kick on and the screen flickered, but it stayed on a black screen (no BIOS menu, no normal boot screen - nothing, just black). I turned the laptop off and removed the new memory stick and restarted the computer and everything worked fine as before.

I've tried this process multiple times now under a range of circumstances (laptop fully charged, making sure the RAM stick is inserted firmly, etc) and I get the same outcome - a black screen with no additional troubleshooting options at my disposal. I found a few older posts addressing this issue but with no apparent resolution, and the direction it seemed to be going was that either the new sticks were defective or there was an issue with BIOS on the computer. I updated my BIOS 7 months ago when I whiped Windows and did a full Ubuntu install, so I don't think this is the issue.

The other kicker is that I'm running Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (most of the existing posts appeared to be geared towards Windows systems) and I have a recently set-up Windows 10 virtual machine (in VirtualBox) that is partitioned to use half of my existing memory and 50 GB of HD. My initial instinct was to uninstall the virutal machine to free up my memory troubleshooting options, but it doesn't seem like that is the issue given other people have experienced similar symptoms with a clean Windows install.

So the question is: do I have a bad stick that I need to return/replace, is there a better hardware option than what I purchased, or is there a special Linux procedure I need to be following?

Hardware specs:

The memory I purchased is:

Crucial 8GB DDR4-2400 SODIMM CT8G4SFD824A

https://www.crucial.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=-1&catalogId=10151&storeId=10151&productId=923006

Laptop Specs:

Ubuntu 16.04 LTS with Windows 10 VM

Asus F556UA-AB32, Core i3-6100U 2.3 GHz Processor, 4GB DDRDL RAM, 1 TB 5400 RPM HDD

Thanks

ASUS Q501LA Not showing 8GB upgrade

My wife's laptop (ASUS Q501LA) was originally only showing 4GB of ram using a scan on the intel site, Crucial and CPUID. Same result by right clicking "this PC" and going to properties. I thought that this was strange since I was pretty sure it had 6GB total long ago when we bought it. For the record, it has windows 10 home but came with Win 8 with a free upgrade to 10.  Anyways, I originally opened her computer to swap out her wifi card when I noticed it only had a 2GB stick of ram in the memory slot. Got the 8GB stick upgrade info from Crucial, it came in the mail today, and now it's intalled. Problem is that everything still shows only 4GB total, including The Crucial scanner. Am I missing something?? I'm wondering if the only memory it has been showing all along is only the on-board memory (which I believe should be 4GB). Was I suppose to reset something or change a setting? the memory I bought was CT 102464BF160B DDR3L-1600 SODIMM. Thanks in advance for any ideas.

The UEFI shows  4096 MB for Memory

Crucial 4Gb DDR3 1066 MHz 204-pin Notebook Memory CT4G3S1067MCEU with Fujitsu Celsius H270

I have an old Fujitsu Celsius H270 laptop that I'd like to upgrade the ram in.

A local reseller has Crucial 4Gb DDR3 1066 MHz 204-pin Notebook Memory CT4G3S1067MCEU available.

I just wanted to check if this would be compatible as it is marked as Mac ram.

The Celcius spec says it takes DDR3 SDRAM 1066MHz (PC3-8500) 204-pin, Gold Connectors SODIMM
I don't have access to it at the moment to run the crucial scanner on, so just thought I'd ask.

Thanks so much
