Best Memory upgrade solution

My 2 year old windows PC has an overclocked (by the manufacturer) Skylake CPU with an Asus Z170-K  motherboard & 8 gb DDR4 2133MHz Memory (2 x 4GB Sticks). I want to upgrade this to 16gb. The Crucial utility has identified the 8gb kit I need BUT a friend has said that although the cost will be greater I would be safer removing the existing memory and replacing it with 2 8gbsticks.There is a kit CT7689496 or a Ballistix Sport kit LT CT7689554. I presume the latter is better for gamming & in my case mostly Flight Simulation. I would prefer to pay the axtra & play safe

Your views would be much appreciated

Hi
Today I purchased the 8 GB SODIMM DDR4 2133 module.
Model: CT8G4SFS8213.M8F6

When I installed it in the laptop, I saw that another model was specified in CPU Z.A1pYDuWZSTY.jpg

Is this the original RAM?

Alienware 17 R3 beeping after installing new RAM

I have an Alienware 17 R3 and decided to upgrade the 16GB RAM to the Ballistix Sport LT 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4-2400 SODIMM. It is listed as a compatible upgrade on the website. The first thing I did was update my BIOS to Alienware 1.6.1, after installation of both sticks I received 4 beeps on boot up. I then started to tinker with it and found that mixing one of my old 8GB stick with the Ballistix 16GB will start the pc normally with no beeps and gives me 24GB RAM. I need help figuring out how to make both Ballistix to work when installed together. Please give me a hand.

Reusing CT102472BA 160B.M18FDD?

I have four ECC DIMMs from my Supermicro X9SAE motherboard which has died. It seems a shame not to try to reuse this memory!

Is there a more modern Supermicro server motherboard (Mini-ITX, ATX) with at least four, ideally more, SATA ports that supports this memory?

The markings on the label are:

DIMMS to fit under Hyper-212 EVO Heatsink

I have a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO on my processor that restricts memory with tall profiles. My current is a single 8GB stick in a single slot but I want to upgrade to 16 with a pair of DDR3 DIMMS to improve performance. This machine is a little older but runs solid for everything I ask of it and really needs a little more memory.

Can anyone comment on if the memory listed below which is listed as compatible for the GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5 is low enough to fit under the Hyper-212 EVO heatsink? Seems to be about an inch or so free for a memory stick to fit under.

If not is there comparable LP or VLP memory I can use instead?

This is my scan on motherboard GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD5:

Asus P5QC Motherboard - DDR3 Compability Problem

I recently bought Crucial CT2K51264BD160B.C16FKD (8 GB = 2 x 4 GB, DDR3L, PC3-12800, 1600 MHz, UDIMM, 1,35 V, CL=11, Unbuffered, Non-ECC) in order to upgrade my system from DDR2 (2 GB = 2 x 1GB, 800 MHz, PC2-6400). I used Crucial System Scanner and it says that my product is compatible with my system. When i use them, my system seems to be starting but i get black screen.

This is what i ve done until now, but i get the same result as i described above:

1. i tried using memories each one alone at the orange slots

2. latest bios update (version 2103)

3. CLRTC clean both by jumper and battery methods before using new Rams

Could you suggest me any solution ?

Thanks

Dell PowerEdge T30 won't take recommended 2666 ECC Memory?

We have a Dell PowerEdge T30 we were upgrading to 64GB from 16GB 2400 non-ECC memory.

Crucial website recommended some 2666 ECC memory, and we bought it off a crucial amazon link:

https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Technology-288-Pin-PC4-21300-Registered/dp/B01MZ1TZLK

The computer doesn't boot with the new memory in it - the power button just blinks amber, no bios screen comes up. Putting the old memory back boots fine.

We updated the T30's bios to latest available (Dell PowerEdge T30 1.0.15 System BIOS) and tried individual & pairs of the memory sticks to see if that helped, but same behavior always.

I assume the combo works and there's some reason, hopefully fixable, that is blocking us.

I was wondering if there were any other tricks or updates you might suggest that could get these working together? Thanks!

I'm a Fujitsu PC reseller and regularly order memory upgrades. I've noticed you have stopped listing Fujitsu as a vendor and the memory scanner does not find matches for Fujitsu systems. Is there a reason for this.

Lately i get a lot of those PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA Blue Screen errors. I checked all my hardware.

Is this legitimate genuine 4GB PC2-6400 ram chips?

$

Hi can you please tell me if these PC2-6400 chips are genuine Crucial memory? I just bought these 2, 4GB chips from eBay, and cpu-z (v.1.86) identifies them both as manufactured by Hyundai.

And these chips (pictured below) look different than the other SODIMMs I've seen in this forum verified as genuine, because these have 8 dark colored memory modules on each side, instead of 4. Genuine Crucial chips appear to only have 4 (albeit larger) dark colored memory modules each side.

Anyone able to provide some feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi experts,

I have an MSI A78M-45 board.   2 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz sticks, all working great.

Then I add a pair of Crucial same specs, and the mobo just beeps, cant get to BIOS screen.

I pulled the original pair, and just tried the Crucial, this time fans come on, but no beeps, no video.

The Crucial sticks are

Are you able to tell if its a compatibility issues with this board?

Thank you.

CT8G4WFD8266: Discontinued?

What is the replacement part number for the CT8G4WFD8266 product, which is discontinued according to several vendors?  It was an 8GB DDR4 ECC UDIMM rated for 2666 MT/s (PC4-21300).  I would like to buy more of an equivalent model to fill up the rest of my DIMM slots in my AMD Threadripper system, but am having trouble finding a replacement.

Thanks!

Differences between CT9400081 vs. CT9400101?

I originally posted this question as a reply to a past thread of mine, but I think this actually qualifies as a new question, so am creating a new thread:

I'm upgrading RAM for my laptop 'HP 15-AY014TU', which has its compatible upgrades on this Crucial webpage:

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for/HP-Compaq/hp-15-ay014tu

And the said webpage lists the following information:

Notes about your system:

Upgrades may need to be performed by an authorized service center.
Your HP - Compaq HP 15-ay014tu
system specs as shipped

    Maximum Memory:16GB
    Standard Memory:4GB removable

*Not to exceed manufacturer supported memory.

Nontheless, the reference manual for my laptop model available on the HP's official website states otherwise:

(2048×1)

The official reference manual of my laptop says it supports up to 12GB of memory (8GB + 4GB), but the crucial website states that up to 16GB of memory is supported..

Well... Obviously having only 12GB of memory installed will be safer, so I deem that part of the issue resolved.

Now, I already have ordered a 8GB RAM stick from the above Crucial webpage for my laptop model:

Crucial 8GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM
CT9400088

    DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V • 1024Meg x 64 •
upgrade for HP - Compaq HP 15-ay014tu system.

The link for the above RAM part redirects to the following Crucial 'Where to Buy' webpage:

http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/wtb?ps-sku=CT102464BF160B

which refers to the Amazon item page for 'Crucial 8GB Single DDR3/DDR3L 1600 MT/S (PC3-12800) Unbuffered SODIMM 204-Pin Memory - CT102464BF160B at Amazon.com' I ordered from, last week.

The problem is, I don't know which of the following 4GB memory part models, listed on the above Crucial webpage for my laptop, is best for the other 4GB RAM stick I have yet to order:

Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM
CT9400081

    DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V •
upgrade for HP - Compaq HP 15-ay014tu system.

(Whose 'Where to Buy' page is http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/wtb?ps-sku=CT51264BF160BJ)

Crucial 4GB DDR3L-1600 SODIMM
CT9400101

    DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600 • 1.35V •
upgrade for HP - Compaq HP 15-ay014tu system.

(Whose 'Where to Buy' page is http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/wtb?ps-sku=CT51264BF160B)

They seem to have the same specs according to the above information, so my question is, what are their differences?

Namely,

1)Which one works best with the 8GB RAM stick I've already ordered?

2) (In case there's no difference between them as regards the above question 1),) which one is the superior model?

Best Regards.

Lenovo Ideapad 510S-14IKB (80UV001BUS)

Bought this 8GB module off of Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Single-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin/dp/B019FREJOQ

Which is the same as the one recommended for this system by Crucial: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/ideapad-510s-14ikb/CT9691947

No post. Originally thought the laptop had 4GB soldered on with 4GB installed, but realized it only has one memory slot with an 8GB module already in it. This is the one it had in it, 8GB Ramaxel RMSA3260MB78HAF-2400 (SM30G16511): https://www.memory4less.com/ramaxel-8gb-sodimm-pc19200-rmsa3260mb78haf-2400

Says single rank and has the M with the circle around it on the chips.

When I installed the 8GB Crucial CT8G4SFD824A module, it would not post. No BIOS screen just powered up and nothing. Is it something wrong with the laptop or the RAM module? Bought it because it seemed to be the most compatible module Crucial has for many laptops of the same generation on Amazon and for a reasonable price. I did read that some systems only work with single-rank memory. I didn't think a newer Intel chipset like this couldn't use dual-rank memory. Even checked on Intel's site for this laptop's processor i7-7500U and says it can support two memory channels. Maybe my system doesn't like its speed, even though the stock one says 2400 in its part number.

I was meaning to upgrade to at least 12GB but now I need to get a 16GB module but am wary of trusting Crucial's compatibility tool if it won't work like this one. Didn't see any recommendations for single rank 16GB modules on Crucial but should I try a dual rank 16GB module and see if it works or just go ahead and get a single rank 16GB module (CT16G4SFD824A) that's on Amazon but not recommended on Crucial?
